Sept 09 Atelier 109 Stone work heads for Ireland, US & Canada, Norway and Denmark?

We are hoping to get involved in stonework for bow windows ( restoration and complete new one ) in the Leicester area. We have also had some interest for the supply of our stone cantilever staircase in Ireland, in the US and Canada (Montreal and Toronto) . We will be broading our horizon as well as we are planning to market our fireplaces and staircases in Norway and Danemark, we might even try to markey our marble and limestone staircase and stonework for the Quatar and Abu Dhabi region.

But we are still happy to quote for local stone restoration in the Cambridge, Peterborough or Stamford, even Oakham.

Along with Drafex stone fitters, we have completed 50% of the building of a residential new build, designed based on a classical French Orangery. It is not the first time we have been working in the construction of a new stone Orangerie (Orangery).

We are always happy to be collaborate in substantial residential new build in stone following the classical rules of Architecture. (Working on stone work designed by Robert Adam architect would be a great honour for us.)

Summer 2009 Stone Staircases Galore.

It has been hand-overs galore at Atelier 109, the stone stairwell specialists. We have successfully completed 3 stone cantilever staircases this summer, one going from basement to the loft. All of them had the metal balustrade, newel post and wood or metal handrail fitted.

 August 2009. New contract awarded.

Atelier 109 has been awarded 3 new contracts, a 26 steps elliptical stone staircase in Norway, a massive cantilever stone staircase in Camden on 2 level, and a simple limestone staircase for a cellar in Surrey.

The Devere  project started to be cut in our workshop. The Inigo Jones type Portland staircase will be on site at the end of August. This staircase is one of the first with this type of soffite.

The challenge was to get the biggest possible stone staircase within the tightest space.

 

July 2009 Cellar Staircase completed.

We will be completed and fixed a very simple French limestone staircase in Anstrude stone leading  to a cellar. Again in a tight space like the Devere Garden cantiliver stairwell. As usual real stone was chosen instead of reconstituted stone or cast stone. All our staircase could be done in sandstone too.

The Speranza Project ( elliptical cantilever stone staircase) started on site.

The cut out in the wall was done without any problem. With the proper set up we have now manage to fix 6 stone steps per day. We plan to fix the 3 flights 59 stone treads in 3 weeks. This contemporary minimalist very palladian staircase will be one of our biggest so far. 

 

JUNE 09. Another outside stone staircase installed.

Another  outside stone staircase complete on time and budget.

This time it was an outside set of steps for a private garden in Notting hill. The French limestone was Chauvigny marbriere from Rocamat. The steps were massive slabs of 150 mm thick by 1500 mm long. The main challenge was the transport of the treads from the street to the back garden. There is 100 sqm of slabs ( large pattern) in natural limestone. We also fitted sandstone paving too.

Complete stair and balastrade service: Staircase and balustrade/handrail supplied by Atelier 109:

Atelier 109 liaised with Chris Topp of Chris Topp blacksmith to complete a wrought iron balastrade to go with the stone steps we installed.

So if you need a balustrade to complete any solid stone staircase, we can now provide you with the whole package:design and fixing.

We can arrange the balustrade, baluster wrought iron, cast iron balustrades or newels.

Metal Bronze Handrail or Wood Handrail and even glass balustrade are available from Atelier 109.

May 09 Private house, Stone portico, Surrey:

Another  well finished stone portico in the Kingswood area, Surrey. We have been recently involved a lot as a stone masonry and stone restoration in Surrey, especially in Richemont,  Kingswood and  Kingston on thames.

This one was again a private client which wanted a high quality work to finish off his property. We provide him with stone cornice, stone window and window cills, as well as a bespoke portico, with solid portland stone column. Earlier in the year we completed a solid elliptical stone staircase for him

Various stone work in the Cambridgeshire, Rutland and Leicester county. (Bath stone, Ketton stone, Clipsham & Ancaster stone):

We have been providing a lot of stone work for the Oakham, Leicester, and Stamford area. A nice Portland portico in Cambridge was as well completed.

Supply of  stone mullion window in Stamford is now current practice for us. We have  recently finished a stone door surround in Stamford. Pic window Peterborough.

Ketton stone window, Clipsham stone work in Stamford are now part of our service.

You can also get a look in our new build page of window surround in Leicester as well as a brand new stone bow window in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire. All this work carried using proper natural limestone instead of the cast stone or reconstituted stone. A nice stone fireplace in Rutland was reinstated also.
